Hi guys! New post with the aim of encouraging discussion and brainstorming. Opinions, different or not, are always welcome here. Without opinions and questions we'd still be trying to figure out the wheel.
Hive as Blockchain, I think already proven to everyone that is tough, bullet-proof and reliable, but are Hive dapps as well?
From the user's point of view, and in the end we are all users, nobody sees the Blockchain working, it simply works, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it is simply there, doing its job, and well done!
What we see, the difficulties we have or don't have, are always related to the dapps, sometimes the Apis, not the Blockchain.
Some Hive dapps work almost bulletproof, others not so much.
I remember two that I don't think have been fine-tuned yet, maybe there are more, some with smaller issues, others with bigger problems, I don't know, I remembered these two.
A recent one but onboarding new users, Leo's new site, and a much older one, 3speak.
Login difficulties, threads not showing, problems with video uploads, video encoding, etc.
Now let's see.
I think a general thought is that there are too few of us, Hive needs more people, mass adoption.
Let's imagine that we want to attract a group of youtubers or tiktokers, they onboard at Hive and for example, will face problems uploading videos. They'll start thinking, "Hive is full of bugs". We'll explain, "it's not related to Hive, the Blockchain is working 100%, it's a problem with the app, contact the app's discord".
If they're starving for a few cents, they'll re-upload and everything will be fine, tomorrow the same, the day after that new problems and so on.
If not (I already give up on sites, app and so on for less than that), they may/will leave Hive feeling like, "this sucks and my patience isn't worth half a dozen dollars" or, "this is too complicated for me, forget it!"
Or worse, if they didn't have time to learn or didn't want to learn, "Hive is full of bugs!"
Do you think buggy Dapps can damage onboarding and reputation of a Blockchain?
Is it possible that we've already lost users because of this?
