Sushma Swaraj, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of India told the media on Monday May 28 that her country has no interest in commercializing with the Venezuelan government's crypto currency Petro.
A few weeks ago, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro made an offer to the Republic of India to give him a 30% discount on the sale of oil if they agreed to use Petro as a method of payment.
The news of the rejection was announced during a press conference held on Monday May 28 in which the minister was asked if they were considering the use of Petro for transactions with Venezuela in the sale of oil. Swaraj alleged through a quote that the Central Bank of India prohibits transactions with cryptocurrencies in business with Venezuela, so the idea of selling crude with Petros was ruled out.
The Maduro government, for the sake of reaching an agreement with this country, sent a Venezuelan delegation a little more than a month ago to hold talks with an important exchange of cryptocurrencies of India called Coinsecure, with the objective that the Exchange would admit the Petro on your platform.
Later, despite not knowing what these talks ended, the CEO of the exchange Coinsecure said that the government of Nicolás Maduro would have been making offers similar to different countries, so India is not the only one that has or had the Petro in his desk.
Following this same line, the CriptoNoticias portal recently reported that the Russian bank Evrofinance Mosnarbank has decided to ignore the sanctions imposed by the White House and until now it is "the only financial institution that processes the purchase of the Venezuelan cryptoactive Petro".
So far it is not known who are the other countries that have received offers similar to those of India. It is a fact that the sanctions imposed by the US government. UU they are a strong obstacle to the commerce of the cryptoactive backed by oil, reason why it is probable that at least for now, there are few governments and institutions that decide to work with this digital currency.
