If you're a smoker, can you tell me why you do it even though you know the health risk?

Well, am not a smoker but i know someone who is,and every time i try to let him understand the risk in smoking, I realized he his addicted to the smoking, there is this popular saying he holds on to " something must kill a man".😊😉 So the main reason they keep on smoking knowing the effects is addiction.
