Nothing degrades society so much as unquestioning submission to authority figures.

In multiple ways every day we are encouraged to celebrate and champion individuals who task themselves as being pawns for the state. For years we are exposed to a great deal of propaganda that seeks to strengthen this seed of collectivism.

There is no enemy greater to the individual than a corrupt organization which has given itself the authority to rule by violating the consent of those individuals it governs. Serving that organization blindly then isn't protecting the people, it is strengthening their oppressor.

By simple definition, an agent of the state is going to carry out its wishes against that individuals own free will and they will do so as a detriment to many, fueling collective violence in their own communities and elsewhere.

Not all of them, as the person working in the library isn't as culpable as the one pulling the trigger obviously.

But isn't it funny that those who blindly champion the gang and who demand respect to it, also don't exercise that same discretion of knowing some might be more guilty than others when judging other governments or "enemies" overseas.

You might not respect an individual because of the employee garment that they are wearing, or the job that they get paid to do, but that does not also mean that they cannot be respected simply for the individual that they are.

It is okay to separate the person from the occupation and by criticizing the occupation it doesn't mean you are criticizing the value of the individual or what they could offer the world. For anyone who prefers peaceful resolution to violent "solutions" presented to the world via the state, it's too predictable to see anger and exile come about as a reaction, for simply disagreeing that this occupation might be bringing anything but light and joy to the world.

Pause for a moment and consider that those who truly favor liberty might be the most vocal against those who violate it for others.

The injustices don't represent the group as a whole but no occupation should be outside the realm of criticism. In fact, if those who take part in the organization are serious about wanting to uphold some standard of peace, security, and liberty, then they should be even more concerned themselves with corrupt actors who might have infiltrated the group and be making a bad name for it.

They too should just as loudly call out the illegitimate violence and unconstitutional wars and actions, that are causing more harm than good, rather than promote an environment and narrative that everyone should blindly go along with it all and cheer it on at the same time.

Security for the individual and our communities is important but the way that security is provided today isn't the only method available. Voicing discontent with current actors who are paid to do the state's bidding, doesn't mean that the service itself is one that cannot provide value to many or that it isn't important to consider.

Biggest Enemy of all?

The one who disrespects veterans and service members more than anyone else is the state by taking those lives for granted and forcing them to become involved in fruitless violent affairs that are not for the gain of the American people. They separate families and destroy communities for no just cause except for their own incompetence and greed.

And when those brave individuals come back and later need help or need the freedom to medicate peacefully, the state is there to refuse them that freedom and make life difficult for them, or they will forget about them entirely.
