Police departments around the United States routinely hold buyback operations to get community members to turn in their guns with no questions asked. It is something that you see take place not only in the US but in other countries around the world too, the approach seems to work well.

They've been successful in getting thousands of guns turned in over the years with the gun buybacks that have been held in one region or another. Now individuals who are in Sacramento will also have a chance to turn them in too in exchange for gas in their tanks.

The combination on this one is tapping into the current issue of inflation and high gas prices, this is one marketing approach for the buybacks that is sure to have a few considering turning in some old guns that they might not need any longer.

This isn't the only method of trying to get rid of guns mind you, there are other avenues such as going to gun shops or pawn shops etc to see if you can sell them there as well.

The no questions asked approach is something that has worked to encourage many individuals in different cities to bring in their weapons that they might not want any longer and turn them over to authorities.

Still, despite the prevalence of these buyback operations they don't seem to be making a dent in the estimated prevalence of guns around the country today which is said to be somewhere above 300 million.

By this estimate there are more guns than there are people in the country.
