A variety of grocery stores are busy stocking up on goods right now so that they can have enough to get through the holiday season and meet the expected demand.
They are prepping for a potential surge in business that might come within the next few months.
They want to try and make sure that they've always got those high demand products in their warehouses now, like cleaning and sanitizing products.
“We will never again operate our business as unprepared for something like this,” - United Natural Foods Inc. has loaded up on extra inventory of cranberry sauce, herbal tea and cold remedies, President C. Testa.
We can expect that some of them have learned a thing or two and they will be better prepared to handle such an emergency the next go around.
They want to be ready for whatever surge comes that experts have been continuously warning about.
They are storing a great deal more inventory, at least 10 to 15 percent more, than they did prior to COVID-19 because they don't want those popular items to run out so quickly.
This year, online grocery sales in the United States hit $7.2 billion back in June
