Not that long ago we heard that El Salvador had passed a new law that would go on to make bitcoin legal tender and this might mean that many people would be forced to accept it if offered but now acceptance won't be required and it will be an option for people who want it.
It is just a choice for another money payment and keeping it voluntary is how it should stay. Cryptocurrency doesn't need to be forced in order to be adopted or provide value. There will be millions who are willing to use crypto regardless on their own will that is clear.
“If someone wants to continue to carry cash, not receive a sign-on bonus, not win over customers who have bitcoin, not grow their business and pay commission on remittances, they can continue to do so,” Bukele
Not every retailer today is accepting new forms of payment, Afterpay, Apple Pay, and other varieties. Some even insist on still operating a cash only operation and that should be their right. There are some companies that have started to look into crypto, even real estate businesses that are learning how to do transactions in cryptocurrency to try and cater to this market etc, but not everyone is going to want to take part and that's their choice. The great thing is that the market will always or should always provide options so that people have that freedom to make that choice.
When a new country announces that they consider bitcoin a legal tender or a company says they will start accepting bitcoin for movie tickets or food etc, this helps to expand adoption by giving people more options for what they can do with their cryptocurrency. No force is necessary.
