In the last several years it seems that more parents opted to take their kids out of school and start homeschooling and there are a number of reasons for doing this.
Above all it gives families more flexibility and freedom to have control over the education of their children and to design a lifestyle that works for them.
Studies have shown that homeschoolers often flourish and are well-adjusted, they aren't lacking social skills, they can be well engaged in what they are learning and in their community in making friends and maintaining social relationships.
It is arguably a great myth to assume that homeschooling is automatically going to make a student isolated and unable to find friends in their community. They can meet people in a number of places and school isn't the only arena to do so.
Homeschooled children have also previously been shown to outperform their peers in standardized tests as well. Why one family might homeschool varies from individual to individual, it could be for medical reasons, flexibility for family, preferences for certain education etc, the benefits are many. Though kids were invited back to school post pandemic it seems that many families are sticking with it and still maintaining that preference for homeschooling, I guess it showed many what they were missing and that perhaps there could be better options that are suited for them.
For many of those who got a taste of homeschooling and those benefits they say that they aren't returning and that is a freedom, depending on where they reside, that is open to them and their families. Homeschooling rates as a result around the U.S. have increased in recent years and there does seem to be much more demand for this preference of learning for kids around the country. Whatever setting helps the individual and their family to thrive is going to be the best option and having a choice is key.
