They act
as they do
sneaking looks
across
a crowded room to
meet their soul
in another’s glance
They believe
they are worthy
of love
of feeling
that nothing else matters
but to hear her words
on the end of the line
They hang
on her
every
word
willing
to
fall
from terrible heights
if the connection is lost
or ended
prematurely
They seem
to steer
their heart
in the blackness of doubt
trusting that following
true north
will lead them
to safer ground
They listen
to others
convince them
that dreamers
sleep
and
will not be witness to
vivid colours
and possibilities
of true
happiness
true
oneness
with another
They trust
they can
fuse
the distance
between
them
knowing
their desires
are
closer
than a whisper
away
