Some of my friends and I were meeting in the house of our friend Lily, passing a good time, the laughter and the anecdotes told that day accompanied by a bottle (liquor), made that afternoon among former classmates, a nice memory that can easily go unnoticed for all present, except for me and my best friend @moiseslink and me.
Between the jokes, the laughter and the good time enjoying, the clock passed to the background for all, to the point that when one of my friends set out to observe It, He noticed that it was already around eight o'clock at night already for that at that moment the blanket of darkness covered the city of Caracas, it is well known that in my country night can be dangerous because of the crime that ruthlessly lashes the people who venture to walk through the streets during the night. It was surprising for everyone present how quickly the afternoon passed and therefore we considered leaving the site as soon as possible, which was impossible for us due to the good moment we were enjoying, so even knowing that our return to home would be a little dangerous, we decided to stay a few more minutes that ended up becoming an hour more.
Again we looked at the clock and it indicated nine o'clock at night, at that moment We decided that it was time to leave, we all said goodbye to Lily and we started to walk to our homes, our companions accompanied us until the next corner where we separated, saying goodbye to them we were walking alone in the dark streets of Caracas.
Lily's house is located in a hamlet called "La Pastora" which is considerably far from our respective houses, we headed towards the main avenue which would lead to the area where I live and a few minutes later @moiseslink would be in my house . But, something did not go as we expected, due to the time and no public transport was seen in the desolate streets, so we ventured to embark on our journey, we visited Lily's house for years, so that road was not new for us, however, this routine homecoming became an atypical "walk" for Caracas.
The minutes passed we talked about many things and our bodies felt automatic by the well-known way home, but this time it was not like that, I was the first one to realize the situation and suggests moving to the street next door since I didn't feel very comfortable in which we were, my partner differed and He mentioned that if we continued along the avenue we would arrive at " Urdaneta" avenue, a reference point more than known, which would indicate the proximity of our houses, at that time I had no idea how much I would regret having heart those words since they would change the way.
Nine and a half of the night, the nerves and the indecision began to be present since I suggested changing streets, we were sure that we began to lose, but even so, refused to accept that we had been wrong on a journey so well known we were prepared to go ahead sure that soon the avenue would appear, in the way we met with all kinds of people who transmitted some insecurity, we could see from young people using drugs, even people looking for food in the trash.
Ten at night, it was a fact that we were lost and it was time to accept it, however, either from what we had observed before or for any other reason, we did not decide to reverse and We made another mistake, we crossed to the left thinking that it would take us to another avenue that we really knew, nothing more needed to bend in the corner, it was enough to put our nerves at maximum expression, a dark street appeared in front us, who knows if it was the same pride that previously prevented us returning or the new insecurity acquired when we lost in a supposedly known area That we decided to continue along that dark street even knowing the dangers that it represented.
Due to the numerous antisocial groups observed along this route, we decided to ask at a fast food seller about the avenue that would take us home, to our surprise the response of the man who attended us was not expected as he did not know the avenue, so a new question was in front of me: had we lost so much the course, that even the workers of that area had no idea of what we were asking? At that moment I remembered a stage of my childhood, I explained @moiseslink that when I was a child and I got lost somewhere, I quickly looked for the building of the "Bancon Provincial" this is a very high building that is located two blocks from me house for which it was the easiest reference to reach it. For the moment we were going through making use of this reference was most feasible. But the houses a little high in the area did not let us see the distant buildings, however we were prepared to move away from the houses to be able to observe the bank.
In our eagerness to get away from the houses and be able to observe the bank we could observe at the distance a path that was somewhat familiar, which was a mistake, as we reached the end of this block we saw bars that led to the highway, which did not help us, so for the first time in our journey we decided to return. Fortunately two blocks later my friend managed to recognize a paint in the wall that truly was familiar and would lead us to an unexpected path but that would lead us home. At that moment He said "I know where we are" that wall was in front of his stepmother's house He had a lot of time without going there, but he remembered the place, He had never been so happy to be in front of that house that at the time was a huge relief since for the first time since we left Lily's house she was truly sure of where He was. He told me that we should continue along that street and for my surprise as I was without knowing the place, we arrived at a station of the "Caracas Metro" called "Nuevo Circo" which made a great impression on me because I noticed how misguided we were on the way home, however, for me, It also represented a great joy to finally find a known place.
From that point we could only walk a few more blocks, for the first time since ten o'clock at night the laughter appeared between us and the nerves diminished, since although we were in a known area, the little light that accompanied us added to the antisocial people that passed by and we had to ignore to avoid a chaotic end in the story did not let us be quiet at all, after walk few minutes We could finally arrived at "Avenida México" which is located one block from where I live and soon after my friend could get to his house.
This story represents one more of those anecdotes that we all live at some time and that only leaving the past behind and watching the good side of each situation happen to become a fun memory of an event that was all the contrary but is currently a Synonymous with safe laughter.
