The full cards list for Pokemon Japan's Mega Dream ex has been revealed. This special set releases in Japan on Friday, November 28, 2025. The English version of this set is called Ascended Heroes. Ascended Heroes with its sealed products releases on January 30, 2025.

Set Info
The Mega Dream ex special set has reprints of cards from previous sets from Temporal Forces to Mega Evolutions. This set also has new cards including new Trainer Pokemon and new Pokemon ex cards. There is so much to cover so I feature some of the new stuff. You can find the full list here.
Wurmple, Silcoon, Beautifly
Wurmple is an okay attacker in the early game but it is needed for Silcoon or Cascoon.
Silcoon is the evolved form of Wurmple. The Tackle attack is okay at one Grass Energy for 30 damage. The Cascading Cocoons can be used upon evolving from hand. Search your deck for a Cascoon or Silcoon and put it onto your Bench. Then shuffle your deck.
Beautifly is the evolved form of Silcoon. Both attacks require one Grass Energy. Stun Spore does 40 damage plus Paralysis if you flip Heads. Energy Straw does 80 damage for each Energy you find in the opponent's hand. Energy Straw sounds like a good attack in theory but it does take a bit of work to get Beautifly in play and the opponent may not hold many Energy in hand.
Cascoon, Dustox
Cascoon is not great but you need it for Dustox.
Dustox is the final evolution of Wurmple. The Rustling Wind ability can be used once during your turn. Flip a coin and if you get Heads then you return 1 Energy attached to your opponent's Active Pokemon into their hand.
Twilight Poison for 2 Grass Energy does 100 damage plus Poison and Asleep. This is a very annoying attack.
In theory, a control deck around this Dustox could be really annoying.
Numel & Camerupt
This new Numel is good. If it is attacked then the attacking Pokemon is Burned.
The new Camerupt is okay. If the opponent's Active Pokemon is Burned, then you can use the Burn and Grill attack to deal 110 damage. The second attack is too costly.
The new Numel with Mega Camerupt ex could be useable. Maybe.
Stunfisk
As of late we are seeing more and more retreat lock attacking Pokemon. We have another one in the form of Stunfisk.
Jumping Trap requires 1 Lightning Energy to deal 30 damage plus the opponent's Defending Pokemon cannot retreat. This alone is very good to trap non attacking Pokemon. During your next turn, this Jumping Trap attack does 100 more damage to the Defending Pokemon.
Watch out for Stunfisk along with other annoying attackers like Budew, Yveltal, Maractus and Sudowoodo.
Tapu Koko
This Tapu Koko is kind of interesting.
The First Flight can be used if going first on your first turn. Discard your hand and draw a new 5 cards. Thunder Blast requires 2 Lightning Energy and 1 Colourless Energy to deal 130 damage and discard 2 Energy.
Tapu Koko is not a great attacker but the first attack can be useful if your starting hand is bad.
Team Rocket's Exeggcute & Exeggutor
These two new Team Rocket cards are not very good. The Exeggutor's first attack sounds cool because of the one hit knockout potential. To flip all heads in the flips is a 1 out of 8 chance or 12.5%.
Misdreavus & Mismagius
Misdreavus's Ascension ability is an evolution attack. You can evolve this into Mismagius or Mismagius ex.
The regular Mismagius is not a great attacker.
Rotom (Psychic)
We have a new Rotom card here. This one is of the Psychic type with Colourless attacks.
Rotocall lets you search your deck for as many Rotom Pokemon as you like and put them onto your Bench. (Then shuffle deck.) You can even search for Rotom ex cards too.
The Gadget Show attack is like the other Rotoms with the Gadget Show attack. It does 30 damage for each Pokemon Tool attached to all your Pokemon. With Rotom ex in play, you can attach even more tools to your Rotoms. Maybe with this, Rotom Tool decks could be okay. Not meme material awful but not amazing. It would be an okay budget deck.

Mega Hawlucha ex
Here is Mega Hawlucha ex. The Strong Body attack activates if it would be Knocked Out by damage from an attack. Flip a coin. If you get Heads, this is not Knocked Out and it has 10 HP instead.
The Somersault Dive is not a great attack. This attack cost is at 2 Fighting and 1 Colourless Energy to deal 120 base damage. If there is a Stadium in play, then this attack does 140 more damage and you discard that Stadium.
This thing just lacks firepower.
Scraggy & Mega Scrafty ex
Scraggy as an attacker is okay if you meet the energy requirements for its attack. Twenty damage plus discard a random card from the opponent's hand is kind of powerful.
Mega Scrafty ex is the Stage 1 evolution of Scraggy. This has 330 HP, 2 retreat cost and Grass weakness.
The Counter Cowl ability activates when Mega Scrafty is in the Active Spot and takes damage from an opponent's Pokemon attack. Then you place 5 damage counters on the Attacking Pokemon.
Outlaw Leg is the lone attack on Mega Scafty ex. The energy cost is somewhat high at 2 Dark Energy and 1 Colourless Energy to deal 160 damage. The added effect of this attack is discard a random card from the opponent's hand and discarding the top card of the opponent's deck. This effect is very powerful as you can potentially discard non-recoverable cards like Stadiums, Tool cards, Special Energy, etc. The only recovery card I know of is Dedenne.
Pecharunt
Pecharunt as an attacker is okay. 20 damage from 1 Dark Energy plus 50 more damage next turn is okay.
The Last Chain ability activates when this Pecharunt is Knocked Out by damage from an attack. Search your deck for 1 card and put it into your hand (no need to reveal). Then shuffle your deck. Being able to get 1 of any card as this is Knocked Out is very powerful. You can setup a nice counterattack during your turn.
Light Ball
The Light Ball tool card is dedicated for Pikachu ex. Boost the Pikachu ex attack by 50. Instead of 300 damage, it is 350 damage.
This tool card is way too niche for it to be used much. Also 350 damage does not guarantee a one hit knockout against some Mega Pokemon ex like Mega Venusaur ex.
Night Mine Stadium
Night Mine is a stadium that is targeted against Tera Pokemon. Tera Pokemon attacks cost one Colourless more for both players.
This effect sounds good but the main issue is that not every deck runs Tera Pokemon. Popular metagame decks that have Tera Pokemon are:
- Charizard ex
- Dragapult ex
- Cornerstone Ogerpon ex (in Mega Absol ex decks)
- Terapagos ex (sometimes used)
Popular decks that don't use Tera Pokemon include:
- Gardevoir ex
- Gholdengo ex
- Raging Bolt ex
- Marnie's Grimmsnarl ex
I feel like the timing of this card release is late. This stadium would have had more impact one year ago.
Closing Notes
This special set is really big. Special sets are usually for the collectors but this one has a fair bit of cards for the players.
I usually skip buying sealed products for special sets as prices are too crazy for me. I tried buying an Elite Trainer Box (ETB) for the Ascended Heroes English set online from the Pokemon Center website. By the time the wait queue is done for me, I find out that the product is unavailable. I just buy single cards instead.
