Hi there. A short food post by me.
The original plan was to have rice noodle rolls (Chang Fen/Cheung Fun) at Toronto's Chinatown area. After taking a different route at Toronto's Union station, I find out that there is a Bingz location here. Bingz at Eaton Centre mall closed down and I was sad about it. Seeing one at Union Station was a surprise so I decide to eat here.
Union Station is one of the busiest areas in downtown Toronto. There is Scotiabank Arena nearby for concerts, entertainment, the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey and the Toronto Raptors for basketball. You also have trains that travel to the Airport and to places outside of Toronto and you have the Toronto subway/metro system connection at Union Station.
As Union Station is pretty busy, there are a lot of fast food places here. You do have the usual McDonalds and Tim Hortons (Canadian brand) along with other specialty fast food places.
I decide to eat at Bingz as it was not busy compared to other places. Bingz is more for their crispy burgers (Rou Jia Mo). It also has been a while since I had Wonton Noodle soup so I choose that this time. For 9.99 CAD you can have Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup. They have Pork Wonton Noodle soup for 1 CAD less. A lunch under 12 CAD is not very common I think.
When you order, you order through a touch screen tablet. No cash payment here.
My order was ready in about 10 minutes.
These shrimp wonton dumplings are not very big. However the taste is okay.
The soup was not too salty which was a good thing. Noodles were thin but firm and chewy.
My one complaint is that the plastic spoon provided is not a great spoon for soup.
Rating: 8.5 out of 10.
I was going to give an 8 at first. The portion size is not too big so they can price it lower than 12 CAD. The soup was good and so were the noodles. Shrimp dumplings were okay for a fast food joint. The speed of the order being ready was not too fast or too slow.
Bingz at Toronto's Union Station is now a fast food option in my list when I visit downtown Toronto. Prices are competitive, food quality is decent, the dine-in area is not very busy and the speed is good.
