One afternoon, I spent two hours in an art exhibition -the father and his two children: the art of forgiveness- in which all the works focused on the parable of Jesus about the prodigal son (see Luke 15: 11-31) . The painting by Edward Rojas, The prodigal son, I found especially striking. Portrays the misguided son returning home, with his clothes worn and his head down. Leaving behind a land of death, he enters the path where his father is already running towards him. At the foot of the painting, the words of Jesus appear: when he was still far away, his father saw him, and he was moved to mercy (v. 20).

I was deeply moved when I realized again how my life changed the unalterable love of God. When I walked away from Him, He did not give me back, but He kept looking for me, taking care of me and waiting. His love is undeserved, but also immutable; often ignored, but never withdrawn.

We are all guilty; even so, our heavenly Father welcomes us, just as the father in this story embraced his wayward son. Then he said to his servants: let's have a party; because this my dead son was, and has revived; it was lost, and it is found (verses 23-24).

Read: Luke 15: 11-24

Although we do not deserve God's love, his love does not change.
