Best Gift Ever!

He loves chess...

Mommy @arrliinn wrote about Kuya's love for the board game just about 2 weeks ago. He had been non-stop about getting a bigger chess board for quite some time now.

A truly loving and understanding kid that he is, he was not really whining to get it. (Maybe just a little gentle reminder from time to time.)

"Mommy, when we have enough money, can you buy a bigger chess board for me?"

What a subtle way to ask for something, right?

And mommy would say, "Yes Anak, as long as we got extra money and you are always behaved and a good boy."

Now, the kids were not deprived or anything. As parents, we just wanted them to understand that to get something, you need to work hard for it. For them, it was not that they had to work-work, but they had to be good kids, listen to mommy and daddy, study hard and help out with chores from time to time.

With good, hard work comes rewards.

What timing could be better than Christmas?

Actually, a week before Christmas, Kuya and Mommy were at the toy shop. I had to buy a bingo set for our company year end party last week. Of course, there were some chess boards on display also and Kuya implied his request.

"Oh, oh! My friend has a chess board like this! I saw when we were at his house!"

While I did not get him the chess board that time, I had the opportunity to check how much it was. So a day before Christmas, Daddy @kennyroy and mommy got him the board game as a gift.

While opening the gift, Kuya got excited.

"Oh, I think I know what this is!" he exclaimed, then shook the still unopened box.

"What could it be?" mommy asked.

"I'm so excited!!!" his smile was from ear to ear.

I couldn't help but get teary eyed at that point. We just gave our son "the best Christmas gift ever"!

"Thank you, Mommy! Thank you, daddy! I really love it," he said while hugging his new toy.

Now, here's the smile of a boy who got his "best gift ever".

Thanks to steemit, mommy and daddy finally got extra money to buy this precious gift. Besides, he is constantly giving mommy @arrliinn ideas for her posts!
