Many say his heart has gone cold
In search of the gleam and the glitter.
Many say he has his soul sold,
And in him dwells an emptiness bitter.

Many say he is a petulant rock;
A monolith of callous desires.
Many say he leads a merciless flock,
That burn with black, passionate fires.

He says he is what he has had to be;
Solemn, impervious; for his world taught him so.
He says I too will be like him
If ever I really have someplace to go.
