As I mentioned in last weeks post I was going to try and get some more 1s lipo cells for the BetaFpv Cetus Pro. Well getting the cells wasn’t a problem but Getting them with the right connector is much harder. There are 2 main standards for mini whoop drones PH2 and GNB27 unfortunately BetaFpv are trying to push their own BT2.0 connector which will carry more current with less voltage drop.
but getting cells with that in the UK is expensive if you can get them at all. The only cost effective way is to make up your own so here goes.
The 1s lipo battery’s I managed to get hold of were 650mah with GNB27 connectors.
So the first thing to do is remove the old connector but not this way!
Cutting through both wires will short out the battery so best do them one at a time.
The BT2.0 connector is tiny here it is compared to a 5p piece.
The old eyes aren’t what they used to be but I found this 3rd hand with a magnifying glass a big help for these tricky little jobs.
Just tinning the pins with solder can put to much heat in and melt them one trick is to keep the male and female parts together to add a bit more heat of a sink but you still have to be really quick with the soldering iron or they can melt.
Using a flux pen helps the solder flow and it’s a very clean way to apply flux.
After tinning the connector it’s time to trim and tin the wire you only need about 1mm to make a good joint.
After tinning it's time to slip a short length of heat shrink over the wire then solder on the connector.
Slide the heat shrink up to act as insulation and it’s safe to work on the other lead without risking shorting the battery.
Same process as the last wire and it’s all done one high capacity 1s Lipo all done, and 3 left to do.
The 650mah battery is a fraction bigger than the 450mah but that's an easy fix to fit them with an O ring through the battery tray on the Cetus.
So there you go Hivers sorry the focus on a couple of the photos is a bit iffy but the bits are rather small.
