OK Hive Beer fans. Sorry it’s a day late but I do have a good excuse. Well over 200 very good excuses to be honest.

Yesterday was the last day of the 2023 Maltings Beer festival located in the park opposite scubahead@scubahead and my favourite watering hole in Newton Abbot.

UK beer festivals are not quite the same as Octoberfest they do lack the the huge tankards as you only get given a 1/2 pint glass and the idea is to sample a number of different beers or ciders rather than drink a vast amount of one type.

So after paying a £5 entry fee and picking up a glass and 1/2 a dozen beer tokens to exchange that way once your in there’s no need for cash, just pick a beer and hand over a token simples.
scubahead@scubahead and I settled in for a few beers he was searching out his favourite Hazy IPAs while I went for some classic local bitters.

One disadvantage of going on the last day is a lot of the beer barrels were already emptied in the previous 2 days they are a thirsty bunch in Newton.

Mind you I did manage to find a few beers that suited my tastes.

So what do you do after a couple of hours at a beer festival? Pop across the road for a quick pint of Mew Stone in the the Maltings.
