Τhis is one of the most important Byzantine monument in Greece.
During the stay of the Turks in Greece, the Turks converted the church in a masque. Also they covered the walls with plaster.
In 1926 the Greek Archaeological Society proceeded to restore the temple.
Τoday the interior of the temple is in this state.
