A few days ago, I posted something called Alone, where the images showed scenes with just one person in the frame. Today, I want to do something similar, or let's say, exactly the same, although I changed the title a bit.
This is a series that has always fascinated me and I find it super interesting because there isn't so much noise in the image or the composition. I don't really like the idea of taking a photo where there are too many distracting elements or too many people.
I think that when there is one, or at most two people... depending on the action they are performing—the image becomes more interesting, more intimate, more precise.
Having only one person in the frame is something I always look for when I go on my photographic walks.
I took most of the photos in the Recoleta neighborhood, but in different areas. About half of them were taken in the Plaza de las Naciones Unidas, where the metal flower, known as Floralis Genérica, is located. However, in this series I am not going to show that structure itself, but rather the people walking around it.
There are many tourists with their phones, taking pictures of this Buenos Aires icon. Other people are simply sitting on a bench, hanging out. It's funny, because when I was there, there were a lot of people, and yet I took the time and patience to wait to capture each person separately.
It's not that they were all together in a group; some were alone, others in pairs. But I waited long enough to achieve a clean composition.
Here you can find everything, if you look closely. Compositions that blend nature with the human element. There are portraits that are not exactly happy, to put it mildly. Moments captured in front of a Starbucks, where you see a girl working, or at least that's what it looks like.
The cover image is of a gentleman climbing the stairs at the Facultad de Derecho station, in the same neighborhood of Recoleta. So, if you look closely and examine each of these photos in detail, you will find different expressions. Each image can mean something different.
I can say that it is a fairly varied series within this theme.
Today is a very rainy day here in the city. Some people would prefer to stay home and do nothing. For me, however, it can be a good opportunity to explore the city a little (not too much) and get some shots in this weather, with this rainy atmosphere.
And if it stops raining, I might be able to capture some good reflections to share with you. I hope you enjoyed today's series. I send you my best wishes and hope you have a great weekend.
