Almost in the center of Aalborg we find a public park called Østre Anlæg. The park is shaped around the lake. It is a park I have often walked through and especially in the summer it is well visited. The surrounding area consists mostly of blocks of flats. Those who live there therefore have nothing but a small veranda. The park has therefore become a favorite place with a blanket and packed lunch.
The artist is Burnon, who is a well-known in Aalborg. He drew inspiration from the wildlife and birdlife in the park. The building he has used as canvas, is the building hoursing the toilets.
Until sometime in the 1920s, the area was used as a brickworks pit. But eventually it was converted into a park and recreation area. But it's not just trees, bushes and flowers here. The lake attracts many species of birds and wildlife like rabbits and and occasionally a fox. The paintings certainly suits the park.
