One may wonder can minimalists enjoy their free time? Is there any hobby that fits into a minimalist's lifestyle? The answer is yes! For me, simplicity is deep! There are varieties of very interesting hobbies that minimalists can adopt. 
Playing Card Game: Scrabble
Scrabble is one of my favourite card games. It is very educative because it is a game of words. The scrabble game challenged me to learn expand my vocabularies because each time I lost to my partner, I'll give myself the assignment of learning a specific number of new words daily.
Nail Art
I'm a huge fan of nail art so I can relate to this particular hobby. Somewhere close to my apartment in school is a beauty salon where I get my hair and nails done whenever I'm in need of such service. Though I love nail art, I'm not skillful in that aspect so I wanted to learn. One day I was given the opportunity to practise using one of the apprentice's nails.
The hobby is quite easy. All you need is an acrylic nail kit which contains a nail cutter, nail file, nail buffer, cuticle pusher, nail brush, toe separator, pumice stone, cuticle oil and eraser, nail polish remover, foot lotion, nail polish. All these are not really necessary, you can do without some of it but just for professionalism sake I had to mention them. Also these things aren't expensive at all.
Knitting
Knitting is one of my most enjoyable hobbies. It's a very creative one. I love the beauty that emerges from every creation that is made from knitting. Knitting as we all know is very simple. All you need is a design in mind or in sight, a knitting pin and wool(s). Below are beautiful knitting pieces.
Paper Crafts
This is a simple minimalist hobby. All that is required are papers, cardboards, pencils, scissors, eraser and crayon or colours.
The aspect of paper craft I really enjoy most is paper folding. This is an act of folding paper into desired objects like hand fans, wrist watches and kites. In primary school, we did this very often as practicals in class and for the fun of it too.
One can also use cardboards to draw and carve out objects drawn. A box and other shapes can be carved by adding a gum to pieces of carved cardboards to make them stick together.
Bead Making
Bead making is another simple minimalist hobby. Bead making is all about using beads to make different types of jewellery. Could be anklets, necklaces, bracelets or waist beads. All you need are beads and the beading ropes. This is real fun, I have tried this in the past.
Puzzle Solving: The Rubik's Cube
I have a friend who likes to solve puzzles. He is in love with Rubik's cubes. I never actually knew this was the name for this object until his birthday last year. Rubik's cubes are colourful patterns which are totally disorganized. The player moves the patterns in different directions till each side of the cube has one colour. This is a really great hobby, it is said that it helps one think better so you might want to try that!
These are a few other hobbies which I'm sure fits perfectly into the minimalist world.
On Personal Experience
I love to cook a lot. I love good food so lately I've been thinking of doing more than cooking. I thought to go into baking and other catering activities. I was very particular about baking cakes. I consulted most of the cake houses I knew of and the cost of the training was a lot. I know I could learn through YouTube but I wanted to learn from a present baker instead so I could ask questions and interact during the learning process.
Few weeks ago, a friend told me about a foundation that allows people learn any trade of their choice free of charge. I quickly jumped on the opportunity since my school is on strike, I'm home always with no work to do. I registered about a month ago and I began my catering class yesterday. The training will last for just two weeks but I know I'll be learning a great deal despite the short time frame. After this I could then go on with learning through YouTube. This way I have minimized the cost of spending $141 (which is the price most bakers asked me to pay) on learning only.
