The coming of a new year, a new start full of new hope, self betterment promises and resolutions.
Each year, on the thirty first of December, I sit and reflect on the things I did through out the year.
I wrote this for 2021.
Its been a really long year, longer than I've ever experienced. So much happened, met a lot of people, became good friends with a lot, stopped talking to some and regretted I ever met a few. But all in all its been a pretty amazingly crazy year.
I mean I;
Discovered myself and was able to stay her for a little while, found an obsession, got drunk, lost someone I thought would be my forever.
Looking back now, I realized I have done a lot things I regret and if I had a chance to change things I would. But here I am sitting and reflecting on my past experiences I know I am better and I'm not going to make all those mistakes I have made. I will let go of all the extra weight I carry.
All these were the things I told myself I would do in the new year. Did I do stick to my promises?, the answer to that question will come much later.
I started this year from where I stopped last year, obviously we all did. Nothing much really changed, I continued my Internship at a Syringe Manufacturing Company. I told myself that once I got out of there I would stay as far away from needles as I could. I succeeded in doing that until a few weeks ago when something tragic happened to my brother. A night I hope to forget but I know I never will.
And because of that I was reunited with those painful creatures. Perhaps I would have been happy to be see my old friends if the circumstances had been different.
I get distracted easily, back to my days as an intern. I loved it on the good days. Being surrounded by "grown grown-ups" was not an easy task. They talked about stuff that I didn't want to hear about. And let me not get started on the issue of weddings.
Is it just me or did everyone get married this year?. I attended weddings since April and I kid you not when I saw I went for three in November. I love happy endings though so in reality I was really happy for them. Let's not forget another perk of weddings. THE FOOD!!!!!.

Almost all through the year I did the same thing, woke up by five o'clock in the morning, showered and went to work, closed by five, got home around past seven, showered again, ate and went to bed. I didn't have time to socialize with people my own age.
Now back to the question. If this was an interview and the interviewer requested for an answer. It would be a yes.
Letting go has always been something I have had a certain level difficulty with. From clothes, to personal items, to people. I have always been unable to.
Honestly I was not able to let every single thing or person go but to an extend I would say I went a long way.
The unnecessary weight I put on myself because of other people's opinions, I learnt to scrap that out. I failed to admit it but being around "grown grown up" did me a lot of good ( my mum being one of them).
Whispers, I love her so very much. No body tell her. Oh and I love my Dad too. And I love this everyone here. Plenty of love to go around.
Now back to the story, as I lay on my back on the cols floor typing this, I ask myself. What is my new year's resolution?.
I know what some of them are. Basically it comes down to being happy and living not just existing, because if there's anything I've learnt this year it's that life has no duplicate except you are a cat of course. The others are tiny bits all scattered in my head. At this very moment I cannot write them all because they have not pieced themselves together yet.
When they do I will be sure to come write a term paper about them. Until then............
Have a beautiful and wonderful new year everyone.
