I opened my account on PeakD. I stared for a minute totally blank. I knew I needed to write because writing had always made me feel better but my head would not just help me out and give me something.

I don't know why but I decided to check on the Freewriters community A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words Prompt. And there it was staring back at me.

I used to think the only kind of fear I could feel were the ones caused by fake stories about monsters.
Everytime I close my eyes it comes rushing back to me.
I cannot hear myself over my own screams. I keep playing that very moment over and over in my head picturing how different scenarios could have played out.
"Breath", I keep telling myself, but I can't seem to listen. I walk around scared. My heart races everytime I come in contact with people.
I'm terrified that it is not over, that it's just the beginning.

I sat there doing nothing wrong but writing. They appeared out of nowhere. My body tensed, my mind blank. I have offended no one. Why was this happening to me?.
My clothes are torn and I am dragged to the ground. "I am screaming right?", I ask myself. Why then is no one coming to help me?.
Suddenly he appears, and I know I'm going to be fine. I take a breath of relief. I shouldn't have taken it so fast.
All I see is him fall to the ground.
"You are dreaming, there was no way this could be your reality". I tried to wake up but it wouldn't work.
The words, "Help me, I don't want to die" snapped me back to reality.
I start running. Where to?. I don't know. I just knew I couldn't stop.
I have seen happen in maybe a hundred movies. It is nothing compared to reality.

I try to fast forward time and not think about how we got to the hospital because those moments in time have to the worst of my life.
Now the only thing I tell myself is "He is going to be fine".
He has to be. So when we have the opportunity to laugh about this horrible experience.
He can brag and say , " I took a bullet for my little sister"."
