I have been a Facebook user for many years. I remember when I signed up for it that I didn't like it. And that has still not changed.
I know "hate" is a strong word, but I strongly hate and dislike it. That is why my account is deactivated as of right now. Again, I remember when I signed up for it that I did it because other people were doing it and because my ex husband signed up for it, I had to keep an eye on him.
Over the years I was a relatively passive user, I have many albums, thousands of pictures and posts. But the reason I dislike Facebook so much is because what it does to me. I tend to go and open the app as a reflex and always scroll and scroll through posts and posts and it's mind numbing. I also realized that I do not want to post my life in pictures there so I've stopped personal posts for the most and posted things that I liked such pictures of clouds and sunsets, quotes or videos.
Sometimes I tried to make a difference and ask people to consider making some changes to their lives. Other times I posted polls with various topics. I was mainly unsuccessful in my quest(s). I realize that Facebook is powerful and I probably will rejoin at some point when I am ready but I still think it's not what is used to be. There's too much drama, there's too much disconnect in being plugged in so much.
I don't have IG, I don't have Tumbler etc this , that bla bla bla. I do have an account with HAPPIER (app ) , where I don't know any of those people, but we post our stories of happy things and I enjoy that. You should give it a try.
I do find my self missing being on Facebook because I don't know what is happening with certain people that I was following their story or keeping in touch with them that way, but because it became so highly commercialized, it forces me to at least take breaks because I don't want to be just another sheep in the herd. I want to be the black sheep. I never liked herds. I like being different and I am not afraid. I actually embrace it.
What's your story, what is your opinion? What is your experience?
