Hey guys, guess what? I've been doodling a lot these days! I've been encouraged by @vincentnijman to purse my doodling dream. And so far I am loving it! I mean these are not NFT worthy art or something. And it's okay. This is actually more for me.
I spend most of my time sitting in front of my computer, staring at my cellphone or watching Netflix. All this screen time has been hurting my eyes and my mind. I realized that I need more non-screen activities for my mental well-being. So I figured that doodling is one those easy and relaxing activities I can do. It's like being a child again. It just makes me feel good that time passes by without me scrolling through my Twitter feed.
So I bought a sketch pad, a lot of colour markers and pencils to start. At first I was a bit stressed when I made mistakes, I thought this was supposed to be zen. I learned something right there and then - that I should stop trying to make everything perfect. The strive for perfection has been weighing me down all my life. Doodling taught me that it's okay to make mistakes and to stop impressing people. I have to be more forgiving to myself. The most important thing is to be able to freely express myself and just be creative.
And now almost everyday after work, I'll have my tea, sit outside, listen to Bonobo, and doodle away. I am not pressured to think of any designs or stick to color rules. I just draw whatever pattern that comes to my mind. What a bliss!
I think I'll just continue this until I become a Doodle master or something. But who knows, maybe I can make some crypto off my doodles too.
What non-screen creative activities have you been doing lately? Please share!
