The other day I got tour bookings and I was actually surprised. I thought we will never ever come out of this whole virus nightmare. I guess people can start traveling now. I don't think I'm prepared for this because I still have a day job that I'm trying so hard to keep. Everyday I feel like I won't be able to put up with all the stress and demands of my corporate job any longer, you know the pain. But it pays the bills and affords me a comfortable lifestyle. I guess I'm gonna have to find a way to manage my time and have both (the tour business and my 9-5 remote job).
Anyway, how are you all? I know it's been a while. I miss blogging. I was just so busy at work that it became my life. But I also got promoted. I never thought this is ever going to happen to me. I've experienced upward mobility within the same company for the first time in my life - and in less than a year. I am thankful of of course because this means there will be more opportunities for me out there now with the change of title.
This also means there will be more demands and more pressure from work. I do like what I actually do, it is just the stress from people that I can't handle. We're being asked to return to the office soon. I don't think I can do that especially now that tourism is back and I should be here on the island. My passion remains in my travel agency so I don't think I can flip my whole life over, move the the city, and go back to office life. To think of all the costs that will come with this radical change, it is just not worth it.
During the pandemic we learned that things are possible. That we can actually work remotely and be more productive. This is the most ideal work situation for an extremely introverted person like me so I can't imagine being at the office and suffer from social anxiety again. It is going to be hard for most people to be forced to go back to the office again. And of course, I am not going to be forced. Things should be on my own terms now. There will be a chance that my company won't agree so I guess I should start looking for other options. The good thing is that I've save enough money during the pandemic and I am thinking of investing it into something.
I need new hobbies and activities and find meaning outside work. I learned that I have to emotionally and physically distance myself from work. Kill my career and just have a "job" instead. And then start focusing on where my heart really is... looking forward to new adventures ahead.
