I've been mulling around an idea in my head about creating a simple but user-friendly Android application for the Steem blockchain. I was considering posting about it on Utopian-io, but since I have ADD and really might not follow through, and thus didn't want to take advantage of any possible upvotes from Utopian there, I decided to just post about it here.
(I also just want to say that I have zero problem with esteem, I just personally don't find that it fills my need for a mobile steem app, but plenty of people like it and there's definitely plenty of room in the space!)
Anyhoo, I have been tinkering around with the Ionic Framework so I think I'll use that, and I want to make it extremely simple and user friendly, and just a breeze to do the basic things on Steem - reading, posting, commenting, upvoting, etc. The Steem JS API seems pretty straightforward to use, as well.
One thing I was wondering about was how some platforms - Utopian, Zappl, ChainBB, eSteem, as far as I know - will have it so that the creator(s) are benefactors and receive some small amount of the rewards generated from activity that comes through their site. Is this something that people are OK with? I definitely want to make it free and open source and without ads, but it would be nice to get a little bit of income for all the work I would putting into it - once it was stable and working, of course. I would certainly want to be much more upfront about it than some other places.
Also, I want to make it so that the user can use their posting/active keys without having to type them in each time, obviously, but also without having to expose it to any service or anything. Can a dev who is more learned in security issues like this point me towards how to do this in the correct and secure way?
Anyway, we'll see if I ever have time to do this - I probably won't, haha. But maybe I will, or maybe this will spark in idea in someone else's head.
