How are you all doing? I hope you're doing great. Today, microphones are back in my drawings. I was inspired for this drawing by the JMC Jade 21 R420 card. It's a microphone with a retro style. The design is cylindrical and elongated. It has a very pretty emerald green color. In this post, I'm going to show you step by step how I created it, inspired by it.
Well, the first step was simply using the IbisPaint app to create the card's frame. In this case, only the inner frame, since, as I mentioned some time ago, I'm currently focusing only on the instrument itself, which is why I'm not doing the background of the outer card. But don't worry, my classic drawings with the full frame will return. I made the frame in a square shape, and it turned out like this.
After finishing the frame, I moved on to drawing the microphone body. I started with the center section and the upper half. It's also square-shaped, but the edges are slightly curved. This creates a more stylized visual effect. I obviously took inspiration for this effect from the original card. After the upper center section, I drew the lower center section, which resembles a cylinder and gives the microphone its unique design.
In the details, which is always the third step, I drew the internal divisions. This microphone has several. With these divisions, each area will stand out from the rest, and along with the colors, they'll look even better later. If I just added color inside without these details, it would look flatter and, consequently, more boring. That's why I like to do them.
Now, folks, it's time for the painting. To get the emerald color from the original chart, I used the eyedropper tool in the IbisPaint app. This tool allows me to select the color from the original chart for greater accuracy and fidelity, and then I simply paint the sketch. I did this for each colored section of the drawing, using the colors from the original chart. As you can see, the result is a consistent color palette, which I'm happy with.
