This post supposed to be in Asean Hive Community, regarding I have a 1.5 USD meal saga there which is a collection of my postings about having a meal with less or equal of 1.5 USD. My frugal way of living lol.
However sometime it doesn't work well and ends up a better suited topic for this community...
I came to a convenience store few weeks ago. They had a new set of bento or lunch package, and I ordered the BIG BENTO SET B. It costed me 25.000 IDR or equal to 1.42 USD, and this was perfect for my frugal lunch menu... of course those what I had thought before until I saw the reality...
This was what I got from BIG BENTO SET B, a rice, a coreslaw with mayo, fried chicken and some nuggets. This seemed good right? I saw this was exactly the same as they put on the picture... the big banner they had in front of the store...
However... the reality I saw was... this as an Optical or Visual Illusion.
This was the rice they gave. I am a normal Asian person, not a giant or big body one. My palm there was a little smaller than most Asian, so you can say the rice was... far from decent in size... It was God Damn too small!
If the rice was too small, it meant all the bento components were too small too. Look at this picture, I put my hand on the right side of the bento box. They gave me two pieces of friend chicken, and both of them was at my thumb size lol...
The chicken wing they gave was already a half of wing... It was the tip and the wingette, without drumette. Well I should be grateful here, they could give me only the tip lol.
The other? maybe only coreslaw was a decent one, maybe twice of my thumb lol. The other were all counted only for being exist... the size was all about illusion.
As you might guess, I could not get full from this one. On one side I could understand that with less than 1.5 USD for any meal or dishes, I could not expect something good would come. It should be something that taste bad or hardly editable.
On another side, I could expect the size would be less than normal. But these guys were so good, they made the appearance looked BIG, and even when I took some pictures about it, as long I did not have my hand shown there, it looked BIG!!! lol
Damn, they should change their job from Bento Chef to Con Artist lol
