The Magi Tower is where Goblins go to learn how to use psychic abilities. It isn't just a gift Goblins can learn, but due to the proximity of Gobson, Goblins tend to show up more frequently. The Magi who calls the tower home, enjoys teaching the art of using one's mind to move objects and read thoughts. Goblin Psychics use their abilities to perform work in Gobson or become adventurers and practice to become a full fledged Summoner.

Hi everyone, welcome back again to my entry post for Splinterlands weekly battle challenge. This week we have Goblin Psychich from Chaos Legion Earth Element for the battle challenge, and honestly it's quite a surprise because the previous battle challenge was about 5 days ago, not even a week. Let's see our battle first, shall we?

goblin ruleset.jpg

  • BACK TO BASICS ~ Monsters lose all abilities.
  • REVERSE SPEED ~ Monsters with the lowest Speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks.
  • 48 MANA ~ With thIs amount of Mana, having a 6 monsters team is a must.

These rulesets are very annoying, because both will negate all the good combination attacks we can build in our formation. Without any abilities, we can say healers and debuffers are gone. Tank can only depend with his own armor and health. You want to use high level monsters, speed will be reversed.

To build up my team, these points become my main consideration:

  • An attacking summoner. Should be Tarsa, Obsidian, or General Sloan. I need to deliver massive damage, because this will be a contest of who deal more damage will be the winner.
  • My team must have plenty of 1 speed monster, or atleast 2 speed monsters. More than that, It's the same as giving a win to my opponents.
  • A bunch of high damage of melee, range and magic. No ability means only numbers matter.

with these 3 points, my option of summoners are narrowed to Tarsa (fire) or Obsidian (earth). Life deck (Sloan) is great but they are quite fast so reverse speed ruleset will kill them. I prefer Obsidian because although Fire seems a good choice, back to basic rulesets will force me to use mage and range, and I don't think this is good because fire range and magic attackers are fast.

So I have to pick Earth and here is my plan:

PositionCardAbilityPlan and Strategy
SummonerObsidian+1 magic damageSimple strategy, I use obsidian and have a bunch of mages in my team. They will do massive magic damage
Main TankMycelic InfantrynoneFirst it has 1 speed, it will hit first. second based on armor+health, it's better than the rest
SecondMycelic SlipspawnnoneSecondary tank with 10 health point. It has 2 magic damage too
ThirdMushroom Seernone2 magic damage
FourthSporcerernone2 magic damage
FifthGoblin PsychicnoneOur main actor this week, he will join 2 magic damage team
LastGoblin TowernoneThis is for preventive incase I meet Thaddius Brood or Bortus who reduces magic damage, so if I meet them, excluding main tank, I will still have 5 attackers with 2 damage attacks

HERE COMES THE BATTLE!!!

goblin battle 0.jpg

If you want to see the battle directly, you can see it directly here:
https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_5a55fce016baeadade5479a9377c730b&ref=dewabrata

It is a Water vs Earth Element battle. I laughed seeing my opponent's line up, either he was drunk or he wrongly read the rulesets. Maybe he used a bot too, most bots only read mana cap.

Overall, my damage per turn was about 12 magic damage, 3 melee damage and 2 range damage. his damage per turn was 4 melee damage and 4 magic damage. This should be an easy win, and I can finish my weekly challenge very fast.

Round 1

goblin battle 1.jpg

The first round runs as both side delivering their attack based on their tactics. Nobody dies in the first round, however both my tank and his tank are in near death condition.

Round 2

goblin battle 2.jpg

  • My Goblin Tower kills their Kraken. Now they depend on Djin Oshannus as their second tank.
  • Unfortunately 12 magic damage is too much for Oshannus... My Mycelic Slipspawn kills the Oshannus

Round 3

goblin battle 3.jpg

It looks like I am already guaranteed to win here

  • My Mushroom Seer kills their Ruler of the Seas
  • My Sporcerer kills their Merdaali Guardian
  • My Mycelic Slipspawn kills their Scavo Hireling

Round 4

goblin battle 4.jpg

  • Their Sea Monster kills my Mycelic Infantry
  • Their Sea Monster ends up like their Djin Oshannus , 12 magic damage is too much for it.

The Key Winning Point are:

  • Opponent doesn't pay attention to the rulesets
  • Earth magician are great for Reverse Speed ruleset.

MY OPINIONS AND REVIEW

goblin psychich stats.jpg

Last week we talked about Deep Luker as one of the best common Water element monster in the last week battle challenge. Now we talk about Goblin Psychic as one of the best too. How do we know both of them are the one of the best? From it's price, Goblin Psychic and Deep Lurker are always leading on top of most expensive common rarity Chaos Legion monster. It's an interesting to see all the top 3 have 6 mana requirement, maybe we can discuss that in another opportunity.

Top 3 Common Card Chaos Legion

Stat-wise, nothing seems special about this Goblin Psychic. 2 magic damage, 1 speed and 3 Health. As a mage this should be suck, however as a healer, having 2 magic damage is absolutely great. You need a high level healer, for example level 4 Venari Crystalsmith, to have 2 damage attack. Goblin Psychic already has 2 magic damage from starting level 1.

The second thing I like about Goblin Psychic is that he grows well as we are leveling him up. I sum all the growth on following table below:

BRONZE LEAGUE
SILVER LEAGUE
GOLD LEAGUE
DIAMOND LEAGUE
In Bronze League, he grows a health point each level he gets. 5 Health point for a bronze league is great, he won't die easilyIn Silver League, He can get an Affliction ability. Almost in every battle we find a healers, and this Goblin will make them useless. He gets a Silence ability in this league. A very important debuff when we meet oppponent mages with 2 damage or moreThe last ability he will get is a Dispel Ability. It's very important 0n later stage when everyone use a lot of buffs

One point that we need to realize that Goblin Psychic doesnt grow his magic damage and speed. Forever he only has 2 magic damage and 1 speed. This is his major weakness, his attacking force is stagnant. On later stage, He won't be an Attacking Healer anymore, he changes to a debuffing healer. However for his stagnant speed, the good thing is that we can maximize this during Reverse Speed ruleset.

SUMMARY

The PROs are:

  • Good for defense and offense
  • In each league, this card gets a new ability.
  • It's price for a common rarity Chaos Legion is one of the highest. However it's still cheaper than most of untamed editions. Investing in this card seems profitable in a long run.
  • Static 1 speed. This is his specialty... When there is a Reverse Speed Ruleset, He will move first. If you use double tank healers, with a Wood Nymph, they will have different speed on higher level, which mean they will heal the tank not at the same time/consecutively. This will make your tank health more maintained.

The CONs are:

  • Requires quite some mana, 6, can not join Little League Ruleset
  • It's magic attack doesn't grow at all, so there will be a change for it's function on higher league, from Attacker to debuffer. You need to revise some of your strategy using Goblin Psychic later.
