Hello Asean Hive Community
It's been a while and let me get back on my 1.5 USD meal saga. I have some materials and I could not post them all in one go. Some are not good and some are not interesting at all. However today I will try to share thing that was not good, and try my best to make it interesting lol.
So a few weeks ago, I visited my client in some resort area. I had problem there, which there weren't any cheap food stall nearby. Well, they were, but I would have to take some fifteen minutes journey, and time was something I did not have that day.
I tried to avoid getting scammed by some expensive food so I came to the food court area. People put their price tag there, so I did not have to worry having to eat something that I would know the price after I finished them.
Then I saw this board. 22.000 rupiah for a chicken rice, or around 1.2 USD. That should be a steal, because the other had their rice at 2 USD or more. So it was kind of suspicious, who on earth selling food at this price.
I checked their food stall, it was very clean and bright. It was a Nasi Padang outlet, so I was quite surprised because usually Nasi Padang was far from being cheap lol. They sold a 10.000 rupiah rice or around 0.55 USD for a rice with some vegetables.
So everything should be safe here but I did not want to gamble it, so I order a side dish incase their chicken went wrong. Overall it costed me around 1.9 USD, above my budget.
These were my order. It looked nice, however they made me sad. They did not look like a real NAsi Padang lol. Like most Nasi Padang here, they poured the broth on the rice and the broth looked so diluted
This was Kerupuk Jange, It was a cracker made from cow skin. I was quite upset because they did not come with similar size lol.
Ok now the conclusion, why did I say this was a failed one? Oh it must be the budget right. 1.9 USD is higher than 1.5 USD. Well it is not for that reason, because the taste was so bad lol. I gave my best just to finish those on my plate and I still failed. Just could not eat them.
The taste might not be that bad, but it was far from what Nasi Padang should taste. It was so weird and I could not take it. It was more like a Sundanese cuisine than a Nasi Padang. So yeah, I only ate about half of them, then I gave up lol.
I am sorry if I say bad things about them, as they might one day read my post here. However this is my honest opinion, the taste was not that bad but it did not represent what Nasi Padang should be.
Anyway that's all for my post today, have fun with your days, and do not forget to get some good food!
