Hello, friends especially DIY ers!

Last night I made a cute pink flamingo bauble, a hanging décor made of paper. On my attempt to make it, at first I wanted to made this to be a honeycomb body but after I tried to make it, the small honeycomb without a good applicator, the glue was too much because I tried it with the liquid one, and also the small size of it became it was not okay.... so the honeycomb was not succeeded but I didn’t give up that easy, with the amount of the pink origami I had then I swapped, changed the body into a bauble, it was much easier and spent less time plus it worked really well. Now without any more prologues, let me tell you how I made it.

Project Time: 2 hours (minus the first failed attempt of making the honeycomb, of course!)

Difficulty: Easy

Materials & Things needed:

  • Circle shape object
  • Double side origami in shocking pink and construction paper in pink
  • One side origami in shocking pink (stabilo color)
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Cardboard
  • Glue stick (don’t use the liquid one, it would destroy all the papers)
  • White paper
  • Black origami
  • Paper punch
  • Construction paper in yellow
  • Yellow color pencil (bolder than the yellow origami color)
  • Origami in light yellow
  • Gold glitter
  • Pink ribbon

How to make it:

1ST

I started by copying the circle on my origami, they had around 6 cm diameter and I made them with the pink papers I had.

2ND

Next, I cut off them all. I got twelve of them. Then I folded them all in the middle.

3RD

Then, I drew the flamingo on the cardboard, make sure that this flamingo body would be more than the circle size I made first. After finished, I cut it off, then I pasted it on the pink origami to wrap it. Then carefully cut the origami following the flamingo body. I did this to the flamingo two sides, front and back.

4TH

After that, I made the beaks with the white paper I had and also the black origami. First I drew then I cut off the black for half bottom part of the beaks. I made two for both sides. Then I pasted it on the flamingo.

5TH

Then, I punched the black origami, then I cut around it with oval shape for the eyes. I made also two of it. I also pasted them on the flamingo.

6TH

After that, I drew the feet on the yellow paper I had then cut it off. And I also drew some lines on the feet with the yellow color pencil like below. I slipped the feet between the pink origami body of the flamingo with the cardboard inside and also pasted it.

7TH

Next I glued the bauble to the body. Each got the 6 circles. How to make the bauble was simple, pasted the glue over half circle to paste it on the flamingo body, half other to the other circle, then pasted the next circle, repeat.

8TH

I drew the small flower for the flamingo as a finishing touch, then put the glitter on it. After that I pasted it on the flamingo.

Then I punched the flamingo on the top of the head and put the ribbon on it, knotted it and voila, it was done!
