Hello, friends especially DIYers and needleworkers here!

Christmas is at the door, so when I have free time I always make some Christmas decoration, like this time, I made this cute Mr. Ginger Bread Man, one of my favorite Christmas creature, completed with the red and green shawl on Sunday. Actually why I made this one was because I still cannot make the crochet ginger bread man one (which I really wish I could make before this year Christmas) and also I really in love with Ginger Bread Man (which I really don’t know why)… So this Christmas Ornament would be a relieve to me…. And not a long time, I have a plan to make Mrs. Ginger Bread Woman to accompany this Mr. Ginger Bread Man, cause no one would be alone forever, Right?

MATERIALS & THINGS NEEDED:

  • Unused paper for pattern, I used a thick one
  • A marker or anything to draw on the paper
  • A pencil
  • Felt fabrics in medium brown, red, crème, and also green
  • Scissors
  • Sewing needle
  • Embroidery floss in black, red, crème, and also medium brown
  • Two Red Buttons
  • Red Ribbon
  • Dacron

PROJECT TIME: 5 hours

DIFFICULTY: Medium

SKILLS NEEDED:

  • French Knot
  • Stain Stitch
  • Running Stitch
  • Blanket Stitch
  • Whipped Stitch

HOW TO MAKE IT:

1ST

I drew the pattern on a piece of unused paper with the marker. Then to make sure that it was symmetric, when I cut it off I fold it in the middle first. After finished, I copied it with the pencil on my medium brown felt fabric. Then cut two of it.

2ND

After that, I used two strains of the black floss to make the two eyes. Here I used the French knot for the eyes. And for the smiling mouth I used two strains of red floss, then sew it with stain stitch.

3RD

Next, I made two small circles with the red felt for two little cheeks. And after that I sew them on the cheek. Also I sew the two red buttons on its’ body.

4TH

I then made some wave lines with the crème felt, then sew it for the legs and hands of this ginger bread man. Here I made them with the running stitch.

5TH

Now it is the time for me to cut the red ribbon, this used as the hanging ribbon of this ginger bread man. I put it on the top. Then I did the blanket stitch around to join the front part and back part of the ginger bread man. Before I closed it all, I put the Dacron inside so it would have the fluffy texture.

6TH

Last, I tried to make the shawl with red and green felt. I cut them and joined them with the whipped stitch. Voila, Mr. ginger bread man with shawl is ready for this season..
