Hello, friends especially needleworkers!

This year I have resolution to start crocheting, eventhough I know it won’t be a flat easy journey for me, because I have difficulties about the time, and I didn’t know the correct crochet hook, yarn, even the great tutor whom I could learn from, but this is the challenges for me and I won’t give up. Before I share how I made perfect chains, I would like to share first about my experience, in finding the perfect yarn and also the hook. It needed few months, trial and error process, until I found the one, I thought the best one so far.

FIRST ATTEMPT

These were my first purchase of the yarns and also crochet hooks, I also bought some plastic safety pins, in case I would like to mark on my last crochet. For the yarn, I asked opinion from a friend who is also a crafter with crocheting specialization, she told me to try the cotton yarn (that time I would like to make the ginger bread man) and also she suggested me to buy a crochet hook with double hook size, 3 mm and 4 mm.

But I really surprised cause I even couldn’t make anything with the yarns and also hook. The hook was too big for those small diameter yarns. The yarns were to tight, and had weird texture, I never used these kind of yarns before. Oh no, I still have homework to do, then.. Cause improper yarns, so difficult to even slipped with the hook. So my first attempt and experience in start over my crocheting, was a big zero.. I believe that experience is the best teacher so I will never give up.. Maybe you wonder why I don’t buy the yarn and also hook in the craft store, that’s because I cannot find any close to me, several I know already closed permanently due to pandemic. So it would make finding perfect crafting tools would be more challenging.

SECOND ATTEMPT

Then, I didn’t lose hope, almost a month after my big zero experience, I got an idea, why didn’t I chat with the online seller, before buying any yarns. I thought that this may help, the seller recommended me to another yarn, and for this new yarn I needed to buy 3.5 mm crochet hook. This time, the the crochet hook only had a hook. When I looked at the yarn, it contained milk fiber which made this a bit chunky and it easily removed each other strands..

Yes, I could still make chains with this yarn, but the result was not what I had expected for, cause it was unneat.. I still curious to find a perfect wool yarn that I could find easily in my childhood time.

THIRD ATTEMPT

So, then several months of searching the right yarn for me, then I found this one, I also bought it online after the long time of research on an online application. When I saw it online, I already had a feeling that it was like the old one I used to have when I was a child.

Here it is

The texture was a bit hard, it had volume and had medium thickness, it also not too soft and not chunky. The color was also great, sky blue. When I wanted to buy it, the seller asked me to buy the 5 size hook but I had a feeling that it would be proper with my hook at home.

And my feeling was right. The yarn matched with my 3.5 mm embroidery hook. It made tight, neat and nice chains. Also I was so lucky to find a good tutorial on youtube about crochet, I already subscribed. By the way in this channel, I also learned how to make the slip knot easily too. This was the process and the result of the slip knot and also the chains.

Look, with this new yarn I could easily made the magic ring too!

But shamely I couldn’t continue it, please help me @neumannsalva @croisheille and other needleworker friends..

Now I am so glad I already found the perfect yarn for me, it would be exciting to start crocheting then!
