THE ELDER-YOUTH
In this article we are going to know who the elder-youth is.
I found this topic interesting and decided to write this article to inform the public mostly the youth and children even the one yet unborn about the person “the elder-youth”.

Before defining who a youth is, it is necessary for one to know that the definition is country base. Using Nigeria as a case study, a youth according to Nigeria constitution is a person whose age range lies between eighteen (18) years and thirty years (30). Above this age and below this age is not regarded as a youth in Nigeria.

A person that is above thirty years of age is an adult. This is because a graduate who is above thirty years of age is withdrawn from youth service meaning that such a person is no longer a youth rather an adult. Moreso, a youth is a person between childhood and adulthood.
But do you know what! The economy of Nigeria had made many youth to remain children adult as youth result in the elder-youth.

Hence, an elder-youth is a person who is above thirty years of age but still functions or operates and be regarded as a youth in the community.

Issues and problems of the elder-youth

• Being an elder-youth is not without a problem. Their number one problem is that, they are the category of people who are deprived of many opportunities as an elder in terms of job, power and authority. As they lack the pre-requisite to adulthood, they accept the fate that they are still youths and youth for life.
• They team up themselves and work against the elders and the teaming youths of the society.
• They are full of jealousy and hatred. These people hate the teaming youth who have fought the youthful lust and become established. They try to make policies to make the successful teaming youth to collapse. For instance if a youth wants to build a house in their respective communities which the elder-youths could not do in their youthful days, they will present high list of items from the youth council demanding for youth (elder-youth) settlement before one can be permitted to build a house or a excavate the land to lay house foundation.

Way forward for the elder-youth
This age bracket should be defined properly by the constitution.
Job should be created for them base on their skills and academic qualification obtained.
