To request or not to ask, is a question that often crosses our minds, especially when we want to ask someone for something to satisfy a desire. But belief makes us doubt; that's why our friend mosa71@mosa71 asks us the question: why is it so hard for us to ask for something? I think it is partly due to a social and family custom where it was seen as a bad way to ask for something we wanted because it was believed to be an act of begging, something very repudiated by society.

alt

However, the act of asking is natural because it is the only way to be alive since when a baby cries for its mother's attention, it does not do it on a whim; it is because it needs to satisfy.

Now, if this fact is so normal, why is it that the belief was established that if we require something from someone it should be seen as a shameful act.

Besides, why should we be ashamed to ask for help if receiving is as important as giving One cannot exist without the other, and making use of only one of them would cause an imbalance because, somehow, the normal flow between giving and receiving is stagnated since the one who gives feels satisfaction at the possibility of collaborating with another while the one who receives feels gratitude, both feelings are linked to love.

alt

I remember that my maternal grandparents were against their family members begging; for them, this meant a symbol of weakness and weakness of character; they also believed that if you asked for a favor and the person granted it, you would be indebted to all your life for the help received, a belief with which I have had to debate much of my life.

Accepting help should not represent that you have acquired an eternal debt with someone, nor should providing it mean that you have to expect something in return; perhaps in the past, favors were considered as a negative balance to be settled, ideas that were accepted as truth and have never been questioned.

When in fact, the good that is done should not entail any kind of obligation for the person who receives it, this does not mean that one should not be ready to repay what is given; it means that what is given can be compensated with any act of generosity towards another stranger, without the need to return it only to the primary benefactor.

alt

Not asking for what we want can cause dissatisfaction by repressing what we long for, from a hug to asking for some kind of assistance, because we cannot always handle everything, nor do we have superpowers to solve all problems on our own.

I include the superheroes that we see in the comics asking each other for help because they know that their capabilities are limited, and they need each other to achieve their goals, so why is it so hard for people to ask? Maybe it is pride or pride that inhibits us from talking about our needs to this, coupled with family beliefs that continue to dictate our way of acting.
