Hello everyone! Hello, mga ka-hives ! It’s me again, your Angel, and today—this is it ! My first day as a teacher observer . We’re so far from the past jokes, hahaha !
Let me share with you my experience as a teacher observer . Chill, relax, and read every sentence with a heart . ❤️
Before that, I was selected as the team leader of our group, so we were assigned to Tuyan Elementary School . I arrived at 6:37 AM, since our official time-in was exactly 7:00 AM .
First, we witnessed their flag ceremony . We also got to see the Grade 1 pupils perform for Buwan ng Wika . They were wearing traditional Filipino clothes, and their performance was really nice to watch . It was wonderful to see the young learners celebrating Filipino culture . 🇵🇭
After the ceremony, we passed our letter to the principal . Then, each of us was assigned to a classroom where we would conduct our observation .
And guess what? I chose Grade 4 learners !
And you know what? They’re SPS students ! 😭
My first day ? I heard a lot of chika, and guess what ? All of it was in English ! HAHAHA! My brain was not working anymore . You know, I’m not really good at English, HAHAHA, but I’m trying my best!
As I observed the class, I realized that being inside an actual classroom is very different from simply imagining what teaching would be like .
I noticed how the teacher managed the class, gave instructions, answered questions, and interacted with different learners . I also noticed that every learner has a different personality . Some were active and confident, while others were quieter and preferred to listen .
This made me realize that teaching is not just about knowing the lesson . You also need to understand your learners and know how to handle different situations .
At one point, I even thought, “Someday, ako pud kaha naa diri sa atubangan ?” 🥹
It made me feel excited and nervous at the same time .
This experience reminded me that being an education student is not only about completing requirements . We are slowly being introduced to the real world of teaching .
This semester, we are here to observe and learn . Next semester, we will take another big step as student teachers .
For now, I’ll take everything one step at a time .
I’ll observe .
I’ll learn .
I’ll make mistakes .
And I’ll grow .
And hopefully, someday, I can look back at this first day and say :
“This was where it all started .” ❤️
Future teacher in progress … 👩🏫📚✨
