Over a year in the making
Over a year ago, I landed in New Orleans with a group of photographers and artists and we began our month long journey across the south and east coast of the United States. We traveled to different major battle locations of the Civil War, some historic plantations, and countless graveyards where soldiers from both sides of the battle were laid to rest.
When we got back from our trip, we began the large task of putting all of our work into book form. We have several different writers for the project and some pretty awesome designers making everything look pretty cool. A few months ago we sent the book off to the printers and we had to make some different changes there at the press, causing a delay, but it was needed to get the colors just right.
The book is titled "Dividing Colors" and it about the Civil Wars and Civil Rights in the US. We are hoping that the book is able to open the eyes of some of the people that are not familiar with what was going on in the US during that time. Depending on where you live in the US now, you may have a different view on the south or how slavery worked back then. We are hoping that this is a raw look at what things were like and we hope that we are able to do justice for everyone that suffered back then so that their memory lives on.
It was a terrible time in our country, but one that must never been forgotten.
