I finally beat the main story line for Horizon Zero Dawn and damn, it was such an epic story. I still have the Frozen Wilds expansion to play through, but I think I am going to take a break from Horizon and play another game for a while and then come back to this.
In this game, you play as Aloy through what appears to be a post apocalyptic world overrun by robots. What you later find out is that this game is set about 1000 years in the future from now and that your character is basically a reincarnated version of a doctor that helped to save mankind from the robots.
Mankind was basically reset when the robots destroyed the world by having test tube type babies raised by AI deep inside of massive bunkers inside of mountains. The game's story is pretty indepth and I don't want to give away too much, but Aloy's purpose is to stop the robots from destroying the world again.
Aloy must bring the different tribes together for an epic battle to save mankind.
The last battle is pretty awesome. There were so many massive robots all over the place and you had to help destroy them all before they were able to get to their destination and wake the original robots that had destroyed humanity a thousand years ago.
Well the battle doesn't go as planned and the corrupted machines make it to the their destination and begin to send out the signals to wake the others.
The old titan machines began waking up from their thousand year slumber and began to absorb the energy and biomass from nearby living organisms.
So now you have to battle the clock as well and try and defeat the main machine Hades before all the other machines that just woke up regain their power.
So this ball thing here is Hades, which is a super advanced AI whose purpose was to oversee the extinction of the human race.
After defeating the machines and getting close enough to Hades, you are able to plug into it and inject the override codes to shut it down.
The override codes work and Hades is shut down. This looks like Aloy has done it and saved humanity from extinction.
With Hades defeated and humanity safe from the machine's threat of extinction, Aloy is finally able to rest a bit.
But she can't rest too early. While she is away from Hades, he turns back on and his consciousness is transported to a new holding vessel.
This dude here was the original founder of the Eclipse, which was a cult group that helped Hades grow in power. But he was also the main person to help Aloy in her journey to defeat Hades. Long story short, this dude served his purpose and Hades had sent out a kill order on him, which forced him into hiding from the rest of the cult.
But now it looks like he is going to try and bring Hades back even stronger than before. Part 2 of this game is going to be pretty amazing and I can't wait for its release.
Overall, this was such an amazing game. I really enjoyed the story line. It made me think about how dangerous artificial intelligence could be in the future and it really makes you wonder of something like this could happen in the future where mankind creates autonomous machines that eventually wipe out mankind and take over the world. It is pretty crazy to think about.
