The alpine world is a magical environment that has intrigued me from the first time I set foot there. There is a timelessness about it, a raw untouched, unblemished purity.
Whether you were to be standing in your footprints in the year 1000 BC, 1180 AD, 1453 or today, the scene would appear mostly unchanged.
One cannot help but feel as a a foreigner while walking among the fragrant alpine herbs, soft bright moss, and glowing lichens clutching cold, ancient stones.
Often within wilderness or a steep trek from the noise and chaos of our attempts at utopia, the Alpine world remains a solace retreat unimpeded by mans meddling attempts to control.
As a human, you are nearly powerless in this environ. The elements here are almighty, inspiring lore, mythology and legends within mans psyche across cultures and history.
Zeus resided upon Olympus hurling lightning among the mountains of Ancient Greece, while in the East Sigarmartha, Ama Dablam and Chhogori are the god peaks of the Himalayas.
Small, weak, mortal, soft, humans can only naturally show a humble respect for what will surely remain as a landscape when we have passed.
