MY ENTRY TO " TRADITIONAL DISH " CONTEST, IN HIVE LEARNERS COMMUNITY | By @deimage
Hello HIVE LEARNERS how are you today ?, i hope you all good today, and keep exiting to following the weekly contest.
According to the contest theme that was set a few days ago, in this post I want to make a post about My Traditional Dish which is the contest theme this time. Here I want to discuss about traditional food from my area, and this food is processed seafood with various spices and boiled. If you want to know about Traditional Food at my place, have a good read.
Spicy-Sour Gravy Seafood is a traditional dish which is a home-cooked dish that has long been a mainstay. This dish is also very suitable for cold weather, and this dish is especially enjoyed with a plate of hot rice as a partner. Making it is easy and not too difficult, but the main ingredient and what you should not miss from this dish is Asam Sunti, this ingredient is a hereditary ingredient from my area which is devoted to soupy dishes like this. Before I discuss this dish, I will first discuss the main ingredient, namely Asam Sunti. So Check this out...
What is Asam Sunti ?
Asam Sunti is a cooking ingredient or kitchen spice originating from Aceh, Indonesia and is only used for people in the province of Aceh, Indonesia. This kitchen spice is a special kitchen spice that is only intended for soupy dishes and sometimes dishes like chili sauce or the like. Use it to give a sour taste that is typical of food. Asam Sunti comes from Averrhoa Bilimbi fruit, which is dried in the sun many times while being given salt. The drying process and salt change the appearance of the Averrhoa Bilimbi which was originally green to a reddish brown color and its texture is wrinkled.
How to cook a Traditional Dish of Spicy-Sour Gravy Seafood
To cook this traditional dish is very easy, but before that, you have to prepare the following ingredients, that was :
- Seafood ( Fish, Shrimp, Crab, or whatever it is )
This time I used Some Shrimp and Fish, I used Shrimp so that the Gravy tasted a little sweet and savory because it was cooked together with Shrimp even though I couldn't eat the whole Shrimp because of my Allergies LOL. The fish will be fried with other fish, but this one will be seasoned first.
Cayenne pepper ( a few )
Garlic and Shallot ( One Each )
Red Chili ( Suit one's taste )
Turmeric ( Optional )
Averrhoa Bilimbi, for extra acidity ( Just a few, not to much because this fruit is so Sour )
Asam Sunti, as main seasoning ( Suit one's taste )
The spices are mashed and added a little water so that the texture becomes liquid. Then the spices that have been mashed were mixed and stirred until evenly distributed with the Seafood.
After the mixing stage is complete, you just need to add enough water and you just have to boil it for a few minutes over medium heat.
After the food boils and the seafood looks cooked, you have lifted it and your dish is ready to be enjoyed. I also provide some other fried fish as a side dish. Spicy-Sour Gravy and fried fish are signature dishes from our place and these are side dishes that complement each other.
I enjoyed it with a plate of warm rice, and fried fish that I had previously seasoned. If you don't like seafood cooked by boiling, you can enjoy this Spicy-Sour Gravy with fried fish or other seafood that is fried, I prefer to enjoy it with fried fish because it tastes better.
The spicy-sour and slightly savory taste of the Shrimp Broth, coupled with the savory and crunchy taste of the Fried Fish that has been seasoned gives it a taste with the perfect combination. And this is one of the best dishes from my place.
This is a little explanation about Traditional Dishes from my area, and I made this post to take part in the weekly Hive Learners Community contest which this time has the theme of Traditional Dishes. I hope you like it and see you in another post.
