Those who drive know how difficult it is to do so when the weather is foggy, rainy or with poor visibility. It is exhausting and agonizing not to see or know what is ahead on the road. The same happens with our life, we are on a sunny road and from one moment to another, a storm comes and damages our visibility, that storm can be bad news, an illness, a separation, a death or a change.

Being in this situation, I realize how important tomorrow is for us and how much peace of mind it gives us to know where we are going. We create a projection of what we want or expect from the future and with this we go "calm" (or not) in the journey of life. Many times we run and anguish in the day to day trying to meet the goals we set and then we do not see or enjoy what we are doing today.

Many people do not stop to think about this, because perhaps they have a hard time living in the present, perhaps it is difficult to live one day at a time, but life always teaches us something. I, for example, at some time in my life, I did not see my present well, because I was looking at "how good my past was". Then I realized that today is the only thing we have, the ONLY thing!

Yesterday is gone and tomorrow does not exist. Doing the exercise of not thinking about tomorrow and living only today, "one day at a time", may seem a little strange because we are used to plan and schedule almost everything in our lives.

Saying, "I am living one day at a time" is easy, but applying it is more difficult. It is worth trying, because living in the present takes away the burdens of what has been and what we think will be. It leaves us with only the most real thing we have, which is what is happening right now. Maybe today is not the most beautiful, but it is what we have and that is what we must learn from, maybe today is what we always dreamed of, so let's enjoy it, let's live and be grateful for being alive and being here.

Tomorrow is not clear for anyone and in my case I can't see well what comes next. Even though I would like to follow the path I already know, there are moments in life when we have to let God guide us on different paths and even if this is not the one we planned, we must be sure that this is where we should be.

My invitation is to slow down, because life is not a race. It is important to have dreams and goals, but I think it is more important to enjoy the road by accepting everything that comes (the good and the bad).

It may be that in the end we get to where we always dreamed or planned, it may be that we do not. It doesn't matter, don't sacrifice your present, enjoy your children, your home, your job, your partner and above all enjoy how much or little you have. Enjoy your youth or your old age and do not worry about what has already been, do not be anxious about what will be, focus on what is happening today, on what is happening to you right now.
