I took this very short walk on Woods Road Trail at Loch Raven Reservoir in Baltimore County, Maryland. I've been having some issues with walking lately so between that and the wet slippery leaves on the trail I decided it would be a very short walk.
I could see that a lot of the plant foliage was dying back and left a brownish-orangish covering on what greenery that was still there, on the ground, to either side of the trail.
There were just a few Autumn colors on some of the trees and I saw some especially vibrant colors ahead on the trail so I wanted to get a closer look at them.
On the way I spotted this tree where the bark was coming off and noticed a lot of little holes on the lower portion of the trunk of the tree. I don't think that a bird like a Woodpecker would do that so close to the ground and I wondered if a beetle or some kind of tree worm caused them.
I also spotted this little Fern by a different tree that almost seemed to be growing out of the tree but with a closer look it only appeared that way and it was just growing very close to it.
Usually, when I zoom in to capture something on or near a tree I will also zoom out to get a photo showing more of the tree. When I did I noticed that this tree seemed to have a lot of little holes in the bark like the other one. I just thought it odd and I hope it isn't some kind of pest infestation that will hurt the trees there.
I finally made it to a spot along the trail where I could get a better view of the vibrant Autumn colored trees that I ventured in to get a better look at. They were surrounded by some other green leafed trees as if they were being protected by them.
This is my last photo and it is a closer look at the colorful leaves on the last tree above. I'm really glad that I decided to venture in to get a closer look! 馃挅
