I had no plans to write my fifth book on July 30, 2023. It was a Sunday, though, and because I didn't have any students, I was talking to an older young lady I mentored about Bitcoin and the coming bull run. At that time, Bitcoin was around $20K and Hive was chilling at around 15 cents ... it looked like the end of the world for crypto in general, but I had studied the crypto cycles and I did not want the people around me to miss the next run.
I am a giving, generous person who believes deeply in abundance -- there is no knowledge that I have that I need to hoard, so, if I have figured out how to get to something good and the doors are open to it, I will do my best not to go alone but freely share information.
So, Sunday was July 30 that year, and I promised my student I would send her more info the next day, and I did -- but I remembered thinking, "Is it enough? What else can I do?"
I heard it just as clear:
Write your fifth book.
That's where it started. But it was the last thing I thought I would be doing. I was trying not to commit a murder, actually.
When you have poured work and love into people, and they show you they really have no respect for you and are betraying you behind your back ... I knew something was wrong in June because there were payments due but the person in question was displaying a whole different project he was paying for instead of paying his contract with me.
So then the investigator in me kicked in, and it was off to the social media races -- I was able to build a profile of this individual of resentful behavior toward women that came out in social media flipouts, threats, and justification of other people doing the same. He knew me well enough not to try any of that to my face, but it was there ... so what he was doing was trying to play my kindness as weakness.
Because I am a deeply loving and caring person, this is the kind of thing that hurts me the most ... when I have to cut folks off because they are so wicked ... meanwhile, the evidence continued to mount up in real time, with the epitome of the stupidity coming the week of July 23 -- man out there flipping out on a woman and going to pricey events while holding my payment.
But see, I'm different. I wait my turn, profile people, and figure out exactly how I'm going to come at them. I'm calm until I'm not with this huge voice. I'm infamous for this in certain business environments in San Francisco; come at my community wrong and I might just make you wish you never had the idea. Rarely do I do this for myself, and I knew I was not called to do so yet on this occasion in July 2025 ... so I sought what I now consider my holy hill, Buena Vista Park in San Francisco, CA.
There I met a Christian prince of an older gentleman who became the friend I needed to get through that terrible time (those of you who read me in Q-Inspired by Music will hear him echoed a little bit in our favorite ethereal bass over there), and I spent many days exploring that hill and enjoying his wisdom, the chief of which was this.
"You've done the right thing in coming up here and seeking the Lord and being quiet toward that person -- nothing is louder than silence."
So I learned to stay quiet toward those with no intention of doing right by me, and to talk with the Lord ... and I remember that in that week, there came a day when as I was alone there with the Lord that I was overcome with gratitude for His leading me away from repaying evil for evil ... there was no need, for I had all that I would ever need in Him, and I would never need to be at the mercy of anyone who would not do right by me. My life was in no one's hands but His ... and I remember the burden and the pain being lifted from me as I completely believed and received this reality.
A week later, I knew I was to write my fifth book. Six weeks later, it was finished. Four months later, it was an Amazon best seller. 24 months later -- now -- that book has opened the minds of many to a whole new set of opportunities in the world, and has opened the door for me to be here --
-- and here.
All this as just extra blessing for just the one thing: turning to the One Who loves me best, and leaving the matters I could not solve rightly in His hands.
In this July I have gone up on my holy hill and remembered the comfort and blessing I found there in releasing pain and anger and receiving the full embrace of the One Who has called me, along with such companions who came echoing His wisdom ... how that presaged the life I am living now, a life of peace and humble joys in which there are great doors opened to me for me to walk through that no one I left in 2023 could ever open or shut for me. The first of the great doors was my fifth book -- and the impetus for that was given to me two years ago today, July 31, 2023.
I shall close in saying what my favorite German composer, Bach, wrote at the end of every piece of music but his last, and that was because he went on high to say it in person 275 years and just a few days ago today: Soli Deo Gloria -- to God alone be the glory!
