Wow. As someone who studied Norse mythology, and as someone who looks at world history from the view of understanding how that mythos plays out because so much of the world was conquered by Northern Europeans, I was REALLY impressed by this glancing blow by a Ragnarök ... just its dust is enough to reduce modern human life to rubble ... but not quite doom, because there is still a child being instructed on how to live.
At the end of some collections of Norse mythology, Lif and Lifthasir -- Life and Will-to-Live -- survive the Ragnarök, and the husband-and-wife pair start human history as we know it as the restart of life. In this case, father and child ... all hope is not lost.
