Nietzsche is read BACKWARDS through the lens of the Nazis, who picked up the idea of the "ubermensch," the super-man or strictly the over-man, and did what they did. IRONICALLY, the path of self-improvement generally will make a person more successful in life than those who do not engage with it, but, because Nietzsche's own people missed the part of disciplining and dominating the self, he is tagged with that as well.
