It's been two months and four days since the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) was implemented in the Philippines, particularly, Metro Manila.
People who are working in a WFH arrangement, including me, are lucky enough to be in the comforts of their homes and still get paid. These are not true for everyone like the front liners, informal workers, and the rest of private company workers who are not spared by their employers's greed or desperation.
I tried to help the less privileged as much as I can. However, I realized that no matter how deeply I cared for them, and no matter how many times I extended help, as an ordinary person getting by from a measly income, I can't deny that I'm also bound to be drained... of physical resources, mental health capacity, and the will to spend the next few weeks inside this four-cornered apartment unit.
So, everyday I pray. Everyday, I dream. I dream of finally being able to walk outside without the fear of getting sick. Without the fear of being disheartened by the sight of my fellows who are the most unfortunate victims of the system we're in. Without thoughts of uncertainty. Without hatred for this country's administration.
I dream of skies. I dream of sunset-painted skies with beautiful silhoutte outlines. I dream of clear skies atop fire-colored trees.
I dream of skies.
