The alarm just burst up at 6am and I woke up immediately, my heart started racing. Today was a very big day. The VIP was coming to our small community centre, not just any VIP, but the philanthropist known as Clara Evans, who'd funded our little library. So the whole town was just buzzing, and then I, for some man, was tasked with greeting her when she comes.
I put on my best outfit, and immediately rushed to the centre. The place was a whirlwind. Kids were all over, playing with their balloons, volunteers were there cleaning the tables. But, my boss was yelling about the crooked welcome banner. My job... keep standing at the entrance, smiling at the guests that were coming inside.
But I must say that there was something charming when Clara, the philanthropist, arrived. Although there was no pressure, the clock was moving towards 10am, my pants were sweating, and I heard so many lines. for a while. I welcomed Miss Evans. I told her, we are so grateful for you. I was polite and simple.
But then I saw another black SUV pull up and my brain turned. What could this be? What if I tripped? What if I should call her the wrong name? Then the door opened and I saw her. She was tall, beautiful and elegant. What a warm smile. Which made her seem less like a VIP, more like someone's cool aunt.
I stepped forward, although my heart was pounding and managed. Miss Evans, how I was to be so straightward here? She looks at my hand, her eyes were still crinkling. She told me I should call her Clara. Wow. That was very simple. Of her nature, she said and I just, like that. And all my anxiety and nerves melted away.
So we walked inside together and the kids were very happy to see her holding up throwing they made so of our thanks so clear near them listening to every single one of them and what they have to say in that moment i realized i think the vip was about what was not just about the perfect speech or the charming or the brightest look just about not showing up and being with yourself and sharing the love the committee has all it has and honestly
