We have been working with a new company on developing a GPS vehicle live tracking system called Pro-Tekt, which we released in early 2017.

The idea for this system was created by Matt Penhall. Matt is the director of the company Pro-tekt, Matt sought us out to help him build this tracking system from the ground up. Pro-tekt is a fully Australian owned and built product, and only operates within Australia for the time being. There are plans to move overseas in the future.

A lot of current trackers require you to call them up to receive a location or you will have to purchase credits, and each time you want to see where your vehicle is you will send a text and receive a message with a Lat Long location in which you would need to insert into google maps to find a location.

Matt thought that this was ridiculous especially with the prices being so high. These other systems charging around $400 + for the device itself and then a $25-30 monthly fee.

Pro-Tekt seeks to eliminate these issues by providing the user with a fully functional mobile app, Low initial cost, and an affordable monthly or yearly fee.

Heres what you get.

Package

Your Pro-Tekt device comes in a nice box as seen below.

Once you open the box you will see the device itself.

With everything out, you will have the device, a wiring harness, and a siren.

This device is wired directly into your vehicle, for this reason, we recommend getting an auto electrician to fit the device for you, However, if you do know how to wire things in, It is a pretty simple setup.

Once the tracker is installed, you need to download the Pro-Tekt app.

Mobile app

The app can be found in the play store and the apple store under Pro-tekt

Once you have downloaded and installed the app, you will be prompted to put in your email and the unique code which is located on the box. This will create your account, and then you are ready to get going!

The first thing you need to do is click add device so you can add your device to the list, Then you will be shown a screen like this.

Your device will be listed here, Clicking on your device will show you your current location.

App features

This app comes with a host of features, including:

Live tracking: This will update on the screen every 5 seconds so that you can see the vehicle driving along.

Route history: This will allow you to see where you have been in the past, up to 365 days. This screen will also tell you your travel time, and how many kilometers you have traveled. You can also zoom in to see how fast you were traveling at a certain point and what time it was.

Find my ride: Sometimes we lose our cars in a carpark, So we thought that we would add in this feature which will take you to your car from your current location.

Activate alarm: The alarm is designed as a recovery rather than a prevention. How this works is, If someone were to steal your vehicle and put it into a shipping container, The GPS signal would be impaired, This would still give you a rough location, But it will probably not be spot on. So you would go to the rough location and activate the alarm. This alarm is 115DB which is fairly loud and you will be able to locate your vehicle that way.

Low battery alert:When your vehicle is sitting still and the ignition is turned off, the device will go into a sleep mode, This mode will draw 5 milliamps from your battery, Typically this will give you about a month of sitting still before your battery dies. However, when your battery does get low the device will send you a notification to your phone telling you that your battery is low, giving you the chance to charge it up.

GEO fence: The last feature is the GEO fence. You activate this wherever you leave your vehicle, it will place an invisible barrier in a 250-meter radius, If your vehicle moves out of this barrier, you will instantly be notified to your phone that your vehicle has breached the GEO fence.
