From the clefts of seaward rocks
Watching the tides of time roll in
Deep blue swells break misty on my heart
Washing away the sand castles of years gone by
Oh to float forever on your mighty cresting tops
And feel that youthful surging strength
A love and life adrift in me
Lost to your cold enveloping waves
Take time and memories to your ever-changing depths
And let them rest ‘til times no more
Amid the ruins of ancient cities
Or in the hulks of sunken wrecks
Like treasure chests of pirates gold
Only to me their value known
And on that day of sunsets end
When death’s fog has hid from site
The tides of time have rolled again
At last my love it takes me in
I wrote this several years ago and I can't remember if I have ever posted it or used it anywhere else online, I hope not.
